Christian Anderson

Originally from the metropolis of Washougal, WA, Christian attended high school in Lake Stevens, WA where he began following Jesus. Quickly after accepting Christ he felt God’s calling to ministry. While attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, he fell in love with coffee, his wife Ramona, and college ministry. After college, he pioneered a Chi Alpha Ministry at Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon, WA from 2007-2017. In May 2018, he moved his family to Corvallis to re-pioneer Chi Alpha at Oregon State University. He has five kids - Faye, Eva, Anna, Levin, and Mo. Christian was a wrestler and a literature major which kind of makes him a paradox - but a lot of fun.

Johanna Wuco

Johanna grew up in a small town called University Place near Tacoma, WA until moving up to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University. Initially on a career path to become a surgeon, Johanna started following Jesus while a student at Western and felt called by God to instead reach college students. She graduated in 2014 with a BS in kinesiology with a healthcare emphasis. Following this, she spent time as a Campus Missionary in Training, obtained pastoral credentials, and moved down to Chico, CA, where she was part of a team pioneering a Chi Alpha group at the university there. Since then, she has joined the Chi Alpha team here in Corvallis, OR, starting up a ministry at OSU.

In her free time, Johanna enjoys reading, painting, playing ultimate frisbee, and collecting medieval weaponry. She is passionate about learning and dinosaurs.

Nathan George

Nathan was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington and graduated from Western Washington University with degrees in both Communication and Philosophy. He also went to Capernwray Bible School in England where he enjoyed sheep and rice pudding. At Capenwray, he found that he was very gifted at mentoring students through questions of faith and life. When he got home, he wanted to continue in what the Lord had seemed to gift him in doing. The most influential books he’s read in his life are The Return of the Prodigal by Henri Nouwen and The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.

Julie Stoa

Julie grew up in small-town eastern Washington and discovered a passion for disciple-making and having conversations about God while at Washington State University studying mathematics and minoring in music. Wanting to make a difference in the world, she pursued a career in campus ministry. After 5 years serving at Washington State, she and her husband Jeremy moved to Corvallis to work with the team at OSU. She loves putting her relational and organizational skills to work as she befriends international mothers and serves as the Chi Alpha administrator.

Julie loves asking questions, spreadsheets, reading, and being a mom to an adventurous, on-the-move eight-year-old daughter.

Erin George

Born and raised on a family farm in Olympia, Washington, Erin went on to get a B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science from Central Washington University. During her senior year, God gave Erin a vision and called her into ministry. She went on to complete the Missionary in Training program at Central, after which she envisioned going overseas to Africa, when God redirected her to join the Chi Alpha team at Oregon State University. She is on a long-term plan of pioneering a Chi Alpha ministry at Southern Oregon University.

In the midst of these life changes, Erin loves going for hikes, doing artsy things that don’t take a lot of skill, meeting new people, and new types of tea.

Ana Kowalski

A lover of nature & Australian Shepherd puppies, Ana spent the first 8 years of her childhood residing in Portland, OR with her parents & little sister, and then moved to the little town of Kingston, WA where she spent the rest of her growing up years on a farm. In 2017 Ana received a degree in Religion & Culture from Western Washington University, and during her time in school, being a worship leader and student in Chi Alpha significantly shaped her walk with the LORD. Little did she know that she’d end up working for the same branch of ministry that helped transform her young adult life! God called Ana to Oregon to reach college students for Christ: to help them have the best college experience possible by taking on the not-so-easy task of teaching & modeling how to love God & love others.

In her free time you’ll find Ana writing songs, going on nature walks & hikes, painting, and baking delicious pastries (eaten with tea coffee, of course.)

Jeff Springer

Jeff hails from Olympia, WA where he graduated from The Evergreen State College. After living like the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32), he gave his life to Christ and wanted to do whatever he could to share Jesus with his peers. Jeff got involved in Chi Alpha his junior year and fell in love with their vision to make Jesus famous on University campuses and around the world. Jeff and his wife live in Albany with their 3 kids and 2 cats.

Jeff enjoys coffee, board games, playing guitar, coffee, ping pong, and reading (while drinking coffee). His favorite authors include J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Hosana Ichiya

Hosana was born and raised in Japan in a Christian family. Although he went to church every Sunday, that was one of the last things to be known by his friends.

He first came to the States when as an international student at WSU, where he met Chi Alpha. He majored in intercultural communication, and he studied in Japan, US and Singapore. After working in the marketplace for 2.5 years in Japan, God called him back to the US to join the Chi Alpha internship. In 2020, God told Hosana to serve with Chi Alpha at OSU to reach 3000 international students from all over the world instead of returning to his home church in Japan. It was a huge challenge for him to leave his family, friends and home church, but he was confident that God would provide for every need when we follow His will.

Hosana likes to watch and play sports, eat good food, play and listen to music, and ask hard (good) questions!

Alex Johnson

Raised in Edmonds, Washington, Alex didn’t grow up with any faith background during his adolescence. It wasn’t until high school that he got plugged into a youth group at a local church. There, Alex began to learn and explore what a relationship with God meant for him. Later, Alex attended Western Washington University, where he joined a ministry on campus, was discipled, and grew in his relationship with God, eventually getting baptized during his sophomore year.

Alex graduated with a degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Economics. During his final year of college, he felt a tug to become an intern with Chi Alpha at Oregon State University, excited to see what God would do in that year and after that year would join the staff team. Alex loves playing and watching soccer, enjoys board games of all types, and has a soft spot for dogs.

Bethany Shelton

Bethany is a passionate Pacific Northwestern, loving coffee, the rain, fireplaces, and is in her happy place when she’s spending time outdoors. Raised in a Christian home in Puyallup, WA, Bethany didn’t make the personal decision to have a relationship with Jesus until she was 20 years old while attending Pierce Community College. Shortly after saying yes to Jesus, Bethany felt a call to reach young people with the Good News of Jesus. This led her to a two year ministry internship and attending Northwest University, working to earn her pastoral license. In 2009, Bethany was hired as a youth pastor in Oregon and also got married to her best friend, Zach.  They moved to Salem, OR where Bethany served as a pastor for 10 years, before sensing God shift her call to reach college students. In 2022 Bethany transitioned to campus ministry and joined the Chi Alpha team at Oregon State University, with a long term plan of pioneering a Chi Alpha ministry at one of the unreached campuses in Oregon.

In her free time, Bethany enjoys photography, calligraphy, houseplants, and planning her and her husband’s next roadtrip to a National Park. (It’s on their bucket list to make it to all 63 National Parks. They’ve got 21 down and 42 to go!)

Cassie Bizub

Cassie grew up near Monroe, Washington. With plans to become a high school teacher, she left to study Theatre and English education at Western Washington University. Cassie joined Chi Alpha as a junior in college after an unexpected encounter with God and discovered that there was so much more to following Jesus than she had ever known before. She changed her plans to pursue God's call to college ministry. As a Chi Alpha intern, she ended up with a crush on Trent two weeks into a ten-month internship in which they had both agreed not to date anyone. They both waited, met for coffee the day after the internship ended, and got married exactly three years after their first date! Cassie spent one year on staff at OSU and three years at U of O before returning to the staff team at OSU.

Cassie's favorite things to do include seeing professional theatre, getting coffee with friends, reading, watching movies, playing board games and video games, and keeping her many houseplants happy!
